How to promote your music on YouTube

YouTube is two platforms in one: a search engine where people look for music for years, and a Shorts feed where new artists get discovered in days. Work both.

1. Get the foundations right

  • One channel, clearly named after your artist name — not a personal account.
  • Consistent banner, profile image and links, matching your Instagram and TuneCube tile.
  • Group uploads into playlists: official videos, live takes, behind the scenes.

2. Make every upload searchable

YouTube is the world's second-biggest search engine — help it understand your videos:

  • Titles that say what the video is: "Artist Name – Song Title (Official Video)" still wins.
  • Write a real description: lyrics, credits, links to Spotify and Instagram.
  • Add your genre and related artists as tags, and pin a comment linking to the full track.

3. Use Shorts as your discovery engine

  • Clip your strongest 15-30 seconds — the chorus, a striking lyric, a live moment.
  • Reuse your best TikToks and Reels; the format transfers directly.
  • Hook in the first second, always: mid-lyric or mid-story, never a slow intro.
  • Shorts link to your long-form videos, so each clip feeds your catalogue.

4. Think in series, not singles

  • Repeatable formats — "one song, one take", live sessions, song breakdowns — give viewers a reason to subscribe.
  • End every video pointing at the next one; session time is what YouTube rewards most.
  • Collaborate with artists at your level: a shared video swaps both audiences.

5. Turn viewers into streamers

  • Every description links to Spotify, Instagram and your TuneCube tile.
  • Say it out loud in the video: where the full track lives and where to follow you.
  • Premiere big releases so fans watch together and chat — a strong first hour boosts reach.
